Souls render service to one another

“Parasparo-pa-graho jivanam”

Literally means ’souls render service to one another’. It comes from an ancient text from the Jain religion. Everything we see in one person, we see in another. Good in one is good in all, and good in all is good in one.

If our souls are all connected and we are all of service to one another in some way or form, why do we help some people and shy away from others? Why do we take on commitments that involve another being and drop that commitment without remembering that we are all of service to one another?

The Whole Earth

When we were holidaying in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, one of our favourite restaurants was The Whole Earth. I was particularly drawn to it as it had this tag line on it’s menu: “Transformation of the Earth”

If you’re travelling to Chiang Mai, this is a must. I can say that I’ve travelled a lot in Asia and this is one of the best restaurants I know. Staying in Chiang Mai and not dining at Whole Earth is like going to Paris and not noticing the Seine.

The menu is vegetarian with some meat dishes. The watermelon shake is not oversweet as in many other Thai restaurants. Some spectacular soups and excellent starters.

We were in Chiang Mai for five nights and although we like to experiment, we went to this restaurant three nights for dinner. That’s how great it was. You have to take off your shoes to dine . I remember once coming here and telling the lady who welcomed me how hungry I was.

The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed and not as formal as in many other upmarket restaurants in Asia. You are literally dining in a peaceful and relaxing spot, set in a traditional Thai-style wooden house amid landscaped tropical gardens.

It really is a transformation of the Earth…

Where are you?

“I feel like I’m going nowhere”

Ever heard someone say that before? I’ve just come to realise how powerful that statement is and why the person actually isn’t going anywhere.

The word “nowhere” when broken up is literally “now here”. We are only ever in now, the present.  When a person says or has the thought pattern of “nowhere” are they not just pushing forward and telling their subconscious that where they are right now is in the perfect place for there is only ever now?

It’s an interesting one…

Turning 1p into £10 Million

Sol Shah is turning just one pence into ten million GB pounds in just 30 transactions. How Incredible! More importantly, he’s doing it to raise funds to fulfill the needs of those who do not have enough water. Just go here to read how this story came about.

The concept is really clever. Taking 1 pence and doubling it to 2 pence. Taking 2 pence and doubling that to 4 pence. Taking 4 pence and doubling that to 8 pence and so on until he reaches well over £10 million in his 30th encounter.

Now here’s the cool part. When one donates, they just don’t double the money straight out. In return, Sol will use his energy and efforts to complete a task you ask which is of equal value to the transaction.

Let’s look aside from finance. What could you do in just 30 tries to bring about a large amount of positive change in the world?

Throw A Tantrum and Get it!

I was on the train heading back home today and was sitting opposite a young girl who had a badge on her that read:

“See it,  Want it, Throw A Tantrum and Get it!”

It made me realise what we used to do as kids. We really did use to throw tantrums to get what we wanted. As adults though, what difference would it make if we did the same thing as well? Why did we need to change out of that kind of thinking? Doesn’t throwing tantrums get us what we want - if it’s worked every single time as a kid, it must have the same effect as an adult!

N.O.W.

N.O.W. stands for No Opportunities Wait. When you keep this at the back of your mind, you make decisions quickly. And of course, later on you can refine it. But the important thing is that you’ve got it going, before it’s right.

The moment you take the time to think about making a decision, the further the opportunity has driven away from you.

You become a better decision maker by keeping your speed up and fine tuning your decisions not waiting for the right analysis to take place.
