How would you feel if your old school caught fire?
My good friend, Arvind Devalia, performance coach and author of ‘Get the Life you Love and Live it’ was in his home town of Coventry last week and posts on his blog how we saw his old school catch fire after a suspected arson attack. The smoke was visible from miles and the buildings turned to a big pile of rubble. Here’s the BBC report.
I can’t even begin to imagine how current school children and those who have just left would be feeling after that. They will be devasted. Even though most children, during the school years, talk of how they’d love to be out of school, it’s not until after they leave they realise the value it had in their life and how much they’re grateful for it.
Personally, it’d be devastating for me - to find out that a place where I spent four years of my life has vanished. The place where some of my dreams started to take form and where I was allowed to interact with other students and teachers who had other goals for me and themselves and encouraged me to do my best, whilst putting up with my teenage behaviours. I’m grateful beyond what words can express.
What about you - how would you feel if your old school caught fire and 40% of the building turned to rubble? Leave a comment.
